About Angelo


Angelo Fermo grew up in a farming town in Mississippi. Despite his difficult upbringing, he was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college. While his first job was on a farm, Angelo also worked his way through college, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Education.
After twenty-one years in law enforcement, including twenty as a United States Department of Homeland Security Special Agent and fifteen of those protecting and serving the people of Baldwin County, Angelo retired from law enforcement in 2022 to focus on his small businesses in Baldwin County. Angelo is a founding member of the United States Department of Homeland Security and will bring 17 years of management and leadership experience to the role of Baldwin County Commissioner. His experience fighting fraud, public corruption, drug trafficking, cartel money laundering, human trafficking, child predators and international terrorism has prepared him to lead for conservative values in the Alabama.
Angelo is the proud husband of Ashlee Fermo, and father of three sons, a stepson and one grandson. All of his children attended the public schools in Baldwin County. One son is a senior at Mississippi State getting his degree in Aerospace Engineering, One son is a senior at Flagler College getting a degree in film and directing and the other son is pursuing a career in law enforcement and a reservist in the United States Coast Guard.
The Fermo's are Catholics and a member of Christ the King Parish. A strong believer in the 2nd Amendment, Angelo is a lifelong Member of the National Rifle Association. Angelo is an Executive Board member of the Baldwin County Republican Party. He is also a member of The Fraternal Order of Police in Baldwin County, The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, and a proud military veteran supporter and contributor to the VFW.
Angelo is a passionate fighter against human trafficking. He is a current board member of the Baldwin County Silent Knight anti-human trafficking organization and proud supporter of the Children's Rescue Initiative (CRI). It was with CRI where Angelo spent 2023 travel abroad personally rescuing children from slave fields and placing them in a safe environment within the Churches. Angelo recently served as a board member of CRI from 2023 to 2025.
Angelo’s wife, Ashlee, worked 3 years as a Social Worker for Child Protection Service in Baldwin County and then went on to work a 17-year career in the healthcare industry. Ashlee would finish her career working for the United States Government as a contracted Background Investigator for the U.S. Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, retiring in 2024. Her family is from Ozark, Alabama, she is a graduate of the University of Montevallo and comes from a family of military veterans who served overseas. Ashlee’s was born at Fort Rucker, and her father William Gaumond was a 31-year Army pilot becoming one of Army's first CW5’s. After William retired from the Army he would then take on the leadership role as Director for DynCorp in Afghanistan, a role William would oversee for 10 years. Ashlee’s uncle was former Alabama National Guard Major General Edwin Wright. Both Ashlee’s brothers served in the military; one brother served 4 years in the Air Force and her younger brother served 6 combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq with the Army.
Angelo and his family rescue animals and currently have three dogs and two cats. Four of their animals are rescues.
